Jean will talk about the narcissistic part of herself (or More than Human – to coin John Bradshaw’s term) which has got her into difficulties in her life but also enabled her to take risks and accomplish things that she might not otherwise have managed. She will talk about how this trait has affected her and ask the audience to participate in looking at whether they or others they live or associate with have similar tendencies. She will present this in her typical humorous style, usually at her own expense, and will talk about how she has freed herself from the grip of narcissism and hope that this will help others who suffer from it in some way.
Jean is a 76 year old who cannot believe she is not still 25. Despite a recent debilitating condition she is still developing and leading courses and programmes in Emotional Education at the Atlow Mill Centre, where she lives and works she is determined to get back to her line dancing, walking and art.
Jean taught for 19 years at the University of Warwick in Teacher Training before setting up and running the Centre, where she has provided programmes for disadvantaged children and adults and the general public for 20 years. She runs a Post Graduate course in Emotional Education in partnership with Derby University and is the author of Behind The Masks: Discovering Your True Self.
